Janet Marie Sutton, 90, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at The Waters of Hartford City.

She was born in Hartford City on November 24, 1934 to James Van Horn and Edith I. (Meyers) Van Horn. Her parents preceded her in death.

Janet graduated from Hartford City High School in 1953. She married James L. Sutton Sr. on July 1, 1956 in Hartford City at Trinity United Methodist Church. He passed away on July 26, 2014.

She found joy in sewing, crocheting, and solving crossword puzzles.

Janet will be sadly missed by her daughters, Rhonda J. and her husband, James "Jim' Cale of Hartford City, Shari E. Lake of Muncie and Melinda A. Sutton of Indiana; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sons, James L. Sutton Jr. and Tony R. Sutton, sister, Sue Sutton and brother, Earl E. Van Horn.

Janet wishes were to be cremated.

Graveside services to bury her cremains will be at 11 AM Friday, July 11, 2025 at Hartford City Cemetery with Pastor Sharilyn Wendt officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the cemetery.

Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City is in charge of arrangements.
