Janet Sweet Obituary

Janet (Herman) Sweet, 71, of Cheswick, went home to the Lord on Monday, March 13, 2023. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded in her last days by many family members and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. Janet retired from Giant Eagle after 25 years. She was a local girl who attended Fox Chapel High. Jan enjoyed growing flowers, watching "Jeopardy," Pittsburgh sports, and living life fully. She lived with an open heart, an open door and a welcoming smile. Her home was where her friends gathered, may it be for a celebration of some event, for general get-togethers with friends, poolside parties or kitchen table chats, it was her home to where we came. Jan looked for the best in people and forgave their shortcomings without pride or prejudice. When Jan loved, she loved with all her heart. The sound of her "Love you Babe!" will always be audible and will ring in our ears forever, as will our deep and abiding love for this special lady. We know she is happy and free in God's arms. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a longtime member of Hoboken Presbyterian Church. Although she is so missed, we do not fret for her. She was ready to go home to her Heavenly Father, and that is where we will meet again. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Virginia (MacKay) Herman; and husband, Sam Sweet. They blessed each other's lives for 40 years. She is remembered by her children, Chip (Michelle) Sweet and Bill (Tracy) Sweet; and her grandchildren, Dylan, Margot, Daphene, Kristin and Virginia (Ginny), who always kept Grandma close in heart, mind and proximity. She will be greatly missed by Dennis Czarnowski who, sometime after her husband, Sam, had passed, brought love, peace and companionship back into her life. They loved one another as husband and wife, and Jan's countenance went from mourning to happiness once again. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to her sister, Linda, and nephew, Patrick O'Brien, for all their help in taking such good care of Janet in the last months of her life. Also, thank-you to Carol Crawford, who resided with Jan and offered her friendship and care for the several years before that. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, March 25, in Hoboken Presbyterian Church. Lunch is to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Hoboken Presbyterian Church, 921 North Ave., Blawnox, PA 15238: venmo@HobokenPC-Blawnox.
