Quinby, SC Janet Teresa "Tere" Fowler Brown, 50, of Quinby, SC, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 suddenly at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, after a long battle with cancer. Tere was born December 13, 1962, in Houston, TX to Freddie Ablon Ross and Peggy Ross Fowler Herring. Tere graduated from James F. Byrnes Academy. She also attended Florence Darlington Technical College and was a graduate of the Chris Logan Beauty College. After a terminal diagnosis, Tere spent her remaining time with family and friends, and delighted in getting to know her two young granddaughters who affectionately knew her as Gammy. A loving and devoted grandmother, she also enjoyed cooking and helping animals, but her heart belonged to a single, special canine companion, Ellie. Tere is survived by two children, Ross (Jessica) Brown of Florence and Mariah (Rusty Suggs) Brown of Florence; two grandchildren, Zoey Brown and Rylee Suggs; seven sisters, Dawn Fowler Walker of Quinby, SC, Kellie Fowler of Myrtle Beach, SC, Cindy Fowler Webb Nettles of Florence, SC, Penny Fowler of Warner Robbins, GA, Lauri Fowler Williams of Lake Charles, LA, Tonya Fowler of Baytown, TX, and Nancy Fowler Dampier of Henderson, NV; three brothers, Charles Fowler of Florence, SC, James Fowler of Houston, TX, and Donald Fowler Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and her 10 sibling's spouses and children; stepfathers, Dr. Donald Fowler of Marion, SC, and Howard Herring of Quinby, SC; a special uncle and friend, Bill Parker of Florence, SC; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. Tere was preceded in death by her father, Freddie Ross and grandmothers, Clara Cook and Dorothy Ross. A memorial service will be held for her at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research, Care of the McLeod Foundation, PO Box 100551, Florence SC 29502-0551.
