Janet Louise Wunderlich, 86, of Harmony, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, following a courageous, long-term battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Kenneth Wunderlich, with whom she shared 63 years of an inseparable and devoted marriage.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on March 15, 1939, Jan was the daughter of the late William and Theresa Murphy. She was a graduate of Penn State University and a dedicated elementary school teacher. Jan was deeply passionate about her work in special education, serving as a tireless advocate for students with special needs. Known for her optimism and upbeat outlook on life, Jan also had a fierce loyalty and a strength that carried her through many years of health challenges. She was happiest by the ocean, spending her summers with her grandchildren at Green Hill Beach, RI. A lover of music, she could be frequently heard humming along to her favorite tunes by Neil Diamond and Simon & Garfunkel. Above all, Jan was a woman whose life centered on the love of her family and the lifelong partnership she built with her husband Thomas.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: Thomas Wunderlich Jr. and his wife Julie; Pam Martinez and her husband Greg; and Kelly Clays and her husband John. She was the cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren and is also survived by her sister, Theresa Barilaro.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Prayer Service at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston.
