Janice Ash Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Marion Avenue Chapel on Feb. 11, 2026.
Janice C. Ash, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was 87.

She was born at home on August 19, 1938 to the late Edward and Dolly (McGlone) Burton in Carter County, Kentucky. After graduating from Carter County High School in 1956, Janice married Earl Ash on September 7th of that year, and together they had five children.

Professionally, Janice had a longstanding career as a unit clerk at Mansfield General Hospital. She was not a stranger to hard work, and spent 36 years in that position until her retirement.

Janice lived a life rooted in faith, family, and selfless love. She loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart, and her kindness and compassion touched everyone who knew her. She found joy in simple, beautiful moments-baking for those she loved, crocheting with care, and spending peaceful hours sitting beneath her beloved maple tree. Her home became a natural gathering place for family and friends alike, where people would come together to share meals, music, and fellowship-singing gospel hymns, sometimes bluegrass, and filling the house with warmth and laughter. For countless people over the years, Janice's door was always open, offering not just a place to stay, but a place to belong.

She is survived by her children Preston (Billie Jean) Ash, Debbie (John) Cooper, and Leisha Rogers, grandchildren Camellia (Burley) Stapley, Tenille Ash, Douglas (Lyndie) Oakley, Daniel (Shannon) Oakley, David (Lisa) Rogers, Eddie Ash, Cody (Sara) Ash, Ashley West, Levi Hall, Chelsie Hall, Tiffany (Eric Archer) Lambert, Harley King, Brien (April) Swindall, and Brittney (Quenton Herring), great-grandchildren Hannah Stapley, Owen Stapley, Adriana (Ronnie Carris) Hamm, Mariah (Kaden Caudell) Ham, Shawn (Erika Leitenberger) Swindall, Brice (Brookelyn Rogers) Swindall, Karmen Swindall, Elijah Oakley, Haden Oakley, JB "Danny" Rogers, Allison Rogers, Fred "David" Rogers, Isaiah Miller, Cassia Miller, Rebecca Oakley, Karlee Archer, Alivia Ash, Alaina Ash, Regan Ash, Sawyer Ash, Jaelyn Herndon, Myles Herndon, Aery Leach, QJ Herring, Kenna McGlurg, Khalee West, Jacob Mullins, and Olivia Armstrong, and great-great grandchildren Navy Stapley, Milah Miller, Zeke Greer, I'yla Taylor, Dellilah Caudell, Zander Savage, Hank Swindall, Jace Swindall, Blakely Swindall, Harrison Swindall, and Kolsen Zickefoose.

In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her husband Earl Ash, daughter Rebecca Lynn Ash, son-in-law Danny Rogers, son Edward Eugene Ash, grandsons Malichi Miller and Jeramia Swindall, and siblings Job Burton, Violet Burton, Lou Foust, Thelma Pence, Esther Maggard, and Midge Worley.

The Ash family will receive guests from 11 am to noon on Friday, February 13, 2026 in the Snyder Funeral Homes, Marion Avenue Chapel. A funeral service honoring her life will begin at noon. Burial to take place in Mansfield Cemetery.
