Janice Autry Obituary

Published by Banks Funeral Home - Sylvester on May 6, 2015.
On the beautiful, sunny morning of Wednesday, May 6, 2015, Mrs. Janice Davis Parrish Autry, 79, of Sumner, went peacefully to her heavenly home to be with her Lord. Her family surrounded her with love. She had suffered for a year with declining health after breaking her shoulder. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Wright's Chapel Church with interment to follow in the Paulk's Chapel Cemetery. The Reverends Gordon Poole and Billy Goff will officiate. Mrs. Autry was born in Worth County on October 5, 1935 to the late Elzie Jackson and Lois Booth Davis. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and had a beautiful yard. Mrs. Autry loved gospel music and enjoyed reading. She was a great cook and nothing pleased her more than having her family around for a meal. Her pretty eyes and dimples flashed when she talked and smiled. Mrs. Autry had such a sweet personality that everyone she met loved her. She was soft spoken and never had a harsh word for anyone. Mrs. Autry and her husband, Lee, were married for 39 years. They came together with their children and combined their families. Their love for each other was obvious in little ways like a pat on the knee, a smile, a laugh. They were soul mates. They liked traveling and camping together, visiting many State Parks all across the United States and also in Canada. They loved returning to Myrtle Beach, SC for family reunions. It was the simple things in life that meant the most to them. Survivors include her husband, Edward Lee Autry of Sumner; daughters, Janet Parrish Willis (Tony) of Sumner and Sherry Autry Smith of New Kensington, PA; sons, Larry Parrish (Cynthia) of Sylvester, Dale Parrish (Krysta) of Loris, NC, Ed Autry, Jr. (Carol) of Clayton, NC, Albert Autry (Marlene) of Ashville, NC and Jeff Autry (Robin) of Richmond, VA; brother, Ellis Davis of Colquitt County; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and an "adopted daughter", Brenda Odom of Macon, GA whom she loved very much. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Autry was preceded in death by the father of her children Robert David Parrish in 1974; sister, Sherry Davis Childers; daughter, Gloria Autry Ward and grandson, Ray Autry. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home. Please sign our online guest registry at www.banksfh.com. No Tears Past The Gate

Someone new has entered our eternal home- the heavenly gate has opened to welcome one you love. We cannot help the tears that fall. Our hearts need time to grieve when earthly life has ended and a loved one has to leave. Yet even in the saddest time we know our Saviour lives, and we can trust completely in the promise that He gives - that in a glad reunion with the Lord our loved ones wait to welcome us in joy with no more tears beyond the gate.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Aunt Janice! With Love, Thelma, Janice's sister inlaw; Peggy Nacci, Janice & Lee's Neice, Jacqueline Hudson, her daughter, Crystal Hudson Hayes, her granddaughter, Josh Hudson, her grandson, & Mark jr & Brent, her grandchildren.
