Janice Lee Skinner Bailey, 84, of Sun Valley, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Born in 1940, a daughter of the late Clyde Skinner and Edith Gawthrop Ratcliff, she lived a full life devoted to family, education, and the simple joys that made life meaningful.

She touched countless young lives through her strength, and love of learning. Even in later years, she served as a school bus aide, earning the respect of students, parents, and colleagues.

Janice loved traveling across the U.S., attending church, and going for drives. Fridays were for dinners out with her husband, sister, and son and family. Saturdays meant shopping with her daughter; Sundays were family lunches followed by Dairy Queen-always with Turtle Pecan Cluster without chocolate ice cream.

Her grandchildren brought her endless joy-through pool days, shopping trips, or simply spending time together. Family was everything to her.

Janice was strong, outspoken, and deeply caring. She gave freely-from her famous potato salad to thoughtful get-well cards-and she always showed up for those she loved.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Gerald Bailey, and children: Melissa McPherson (Scott), Bryant Bailey (Debbie), and Julie Moore (Shannon). Her grandchildren: Tasha (Desmond), Chris, Quinn, Andy, Chris, Josh, Eddie, Dylan, Kaleb, Hannah (Bryson), and Tanner. Great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Lyla, Simon, Eliza, Paeton, Maggie, Laila, and Jeremiah. Also survived by her loving sister and best friend, Judith Ann Jordan. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Clemente. She also leaves behind her dog Milo.

Janice also leaves behind many extended family members who meant the world to her.

Cherish each moment. Make memories. Love each other.
We will miss you always.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St, Nutter Fort on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm where the funeral service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 12:00 pm with her son, Pastor Bryant Bailey, officiating.
