Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center - West Fargo on Apr. 24, 2025.
Janice Elaine Marvil Berth, age 88, peacefully entered her heavenly home on April 23, 2025, surrounded by family in Fargo, ND.
Born on June 10, 1936, in Denver, CO. Jan's family soon moved to Green Bay WI, where she spent the majority of her life, creating a legacy marked by love, service, and joy.
Jan graduated from East High School in Green Bay and attended business college before marrying her high school sweetheart, J. Kent Marvil. Together, they made their home in Allouez, raising two beloved children in a household filled with warmth, laughter, and music.
Her professional life included a remarkable chapter as the executive secretary to legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi. Jan fondly recalled her time with the team, always speaking of "Coach" as a true gentleman and referring to the players as "her boys." Her pride in the Packers remained steadfast throughout her life.
Jan's commitment to her community was deep and lasting. She gave generously of her time and talents to organizations such as PEO, Service League, the Antiquarian Society, Civic Music, and the Garden Club of Green Bay. A gifted vocalist, Jan performed as a soloist throughout the region and, in her youth, sang on the radio with her sisters, Saundra and Lynda. She was also a longtime member of the Dudley Birder Chorale.
Jan's life was marked by both joy and sorrow. After Kent's passing in 1999, she was blessed to find love again with Carl J. Berth, with whom she shared 20 years of marriage until his death in 2022.
Jan is now reunited with her parents, Lynne and Herman Hanover, her sister Joyce, her in-laws Fred and Marion Will, and her beloved husbands, Kent and Carl. She is remembered by her children, Scott (Laura) Marvil of Green Bay and Melissa (Doug) Johnson of Fargo, three sisters, Lynda, Saundra, Judy, five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A celebration of Jan's life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kroll's West Restaurant in Green Bay. A private memorial and interment will take place in New Lisbon, WI, where she spent her early years.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who offered support during Jan's final years. Special thanks to her lifelong friend Marcia Thompson, whose faithful correspondence and prayers brought enduring comfort and connection, even in the face of dementia.
