Janice Bunal

1938 - 2023

Janice T. Bunal, age 85, of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023 at Bethany Gardens.

Janice was born in Rome on May 12, 1938 to the late Clarence and Mary Clarke Taylor, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1956. On June 14, 1958, she was united in marriage to Andrew S. Bunal for 59 years until his passing on October 2, 2017. Janice worked at the telephone company in Rome for 10 years and then raised her children on Andy's family homestead.

Janice loved to bake, cook, bowl, and ceramics. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, have Tuesday donut days with her grandchildren and playing games with them. She was a member of Transfiguration Church and the YMCA for many years, and would meet her friends for lunch at the Iron Kettle.

Janice is survived by her two daughters, Teresa (frank) Johnson, and Laura (Patrick) Hurley; her two sons, Tom (Lisa) Bunal, and Jeff (Connie) Bunal; her beloved grandchildren, Katelyn (Joseph) Carstenbrock, Layna (Charity) Hurley-Hall, Tyler Hurley, Jenna (Zachary Harber) Hurley, Jason Bunal, Kayla (Jordan) Wein, Korey Bunal, and Alexandra Tyoe; nine great grandchildren; her brother Frank (Irene) Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Brian in 1991; her sisters, Cecelia Bunal, Joan Kent, and Rosemary Taylor; and her brothers, Harold, Clarence Jr., Don, Paul, Bill, and Bruce Taylor.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 2:30 PM, at St. Peter's Cemetery.
