Janice Lynn Oates Crawford died peacefully July 29, 2025, at home surrounded by family at the age of 77. She was born in Hendersonville NC. She graduated from East Henderson High school in 1966, Appalachian State University in 1970 with a BS in Accounting and Business Education. She was a beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and teacher.
Holding multiple advanced degrees, she was a 40-year educator and a mentor to many. She was an accomplished pianist, a Master Gardner and a wonderful and caring friend.
Janice was pre-deceased by her father Robert Thurl Oates, mother Edith Colins Oates, brother Larry A. Oates, brother Ronald W. Oates, nephew Alan M. Oates, In-laws B. Frank and Imogene Davidson Crawford.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Donald W. Crawford of Watkinsville, sons Michael R. Crawford (Jessica) of Madison GA and David B. Crawford (Kendal) of Valdosta GA. Grandchildren Brooke Crawford, Blake Crawford, Ava Crawford, Jack Crawford, Cranford Daughtrey and Keaton Daughtrey. Sister-In-Law Jean Lipham Oates. Brother In-Law C. Eugene Crawford and Sister-In Law Pamela Guice Crawford. Nieces Stephanie Oates Merchoire (Chris), Heather Crawford Mason (Ken). Nephews Brian C. Oates and Eric C. Crawford (Adrianne).
A celebration of Life is being planned by the family.
