Janice June Simmons Thomas Crosby

Janice June Simmons Thomas Crosby, 83, of Moultrie, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, with Reverend Donnie Humphries officiating. Interment will follow at Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Crosby’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born on May 8, 1942, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of Foster Simmons and Zennie Miller Simmons.

Above all, Mrs. Crosby treasured her family. She cherished every moment spent with them, and her life was devoted to their happiness and well-being. She was a dedicated seamstress with Peach State Homes, where her skill and strong work ethic were evident in all she did. In her spare time, she found great joy in fishing, quilting, and tending to her garden. These simple pleasures reflected her patient spirit and her love for creating and nurturing. A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Crosby was of the Baptist faith, and her beliefs guided her life with grace, kindness, and quiet strength.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Crosby; son, Richard Dale Thomas; grandchild, Jonathan Thomas; brother, Buddy Simmons; and brother-in-law, Guy Hart.

Mrs. Crosby is survived by her sons, Thomas Nelson Thomas, Jr., Tracey Allen Thomas, and Michael Patrick Thomas and Whitney Conger all of Moultrie; daughters, Deborah Thomas Murphy and husband Ralph of Camilla, Kelly Thomas Harvey and Jake Lewis of Bainbridge, and Toni Thomas Boyd and husband Ronald of Moultrie; grandchildren, Trey Thomas and wife Kristi, Carlie Thomas Barfield and husband Bryant, Delane Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Cody Murphy and wife Ashley, Matthew Murphy and wife Jess, Will Murphy and wife Jordyn, Beth Barber and husband Joseph, Amanda Harrell and husband Bradley, Heather Bell and husband Xavier, Jonathan Boyd, and Zachary Boyd and wife Alexis; 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Simmons Hart; brothers, Hubert Simmons and wife Lori, Winford Simmons, and Mickey Simmons and wife Donna; lifelong friends, Charlotte Roberts and Mercedes Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
