Janice "Jan" Davenport passed peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous and prolonged recovery from surgery.
Jan was preceded in death by her mother June D. Davenport, her father William C. Davenport, her brother, William C. Davenport Jr., and her beloved daughter, Stacy June Fristoe. She is survived by her sister, Karla P. Davenport, her aunt, Carolyn Hill, two nieces Salena Gratzol, Carissa Gratzol, and the many people she adopted into her heart as family like Jasmine, Juliet, and Michael Kazmirski.
Throughout her life, Jan worked hard and cared deeply for others. She served her community through many roles - waitress and cook at Ramada Inn, Bob Evans, and Pizza King, and as a cherished volunteer "baby rocker" at Beacon Hospital NICU. Wherever she worked, she brought kindness, and laughter.
She lived a life of service to her community, friends, and family whether through food, a smile, or a safe haven. Always ready to help someone in need, volunteer her time, or listen to woes. Even when it seemed she had little to give, that's when she gave the most.
She loved her pets, butterflies, stargazer lilies, Notre Dame football, the Bears, taking walks, doing water aerobics, watching movies, and rocking babies. She is greatly missed, and forever loved!!!
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.
