Janice Dean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 2 to Feb. 7, 2023.
Janice "Jan" Dean passed away in her home in North Tustin on January 26, 2023. Her final days were spent in the care of her seven children, their spouses, her many grandchildren, and a team of dedicated healthcare aides - and her walls were adorned with the artwork of some talented great-grandchildren :) A Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm (with Rosary at 7 pm) on February 9th, 2023 at Saddleback Chapel Mortuary in Tustin, CA. And a Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on February 10th, 2023 at La Purisima Catholic Church in Orange, CA.

Jan was born in Geneseo, IL in 1932 to Maude and Emil Seei. Together with her brother Emil Jr., and her sister Harriet, Jan and her parents moved to Peoria, IL while Jan was quite young. And it was in Peoria where Jan grew up and eventually met her future husband while working at Caterpillar Tractor Company.

In 1953, Jan married Robert "Bob" Dean and they began their life's journey in Peoria where they had the first two of their seven children. Jan and Bob spent the next few decades raising their seven children while relocating from Peoria, to Palo Alto, to Sacramento/Carmichael, back to Peoria, and eventually to North Tustin - all while striving to balance life's demands with their priorities of faith and family.

Jan was beautiful, fun, and competitive (as anyone attending the weekly family Game Night will attest). She had a deep commitment to Catholicism and living a life that glorified God. She was a daily Divine Mercy Chaplet pray-er, a daily Rosary pray-er and she was a woman of great faith.

Jan is survived by her children: Bob Jr. (Monica), Jim (Ellen), Jack (Tammy), Kevin, Cathy (Scott), Sue (Greg), and Anne (Greg); grandchildren: Tim, Patrick, Eric, Sara, Brendan, Meghan, Kayla, Jacob, Sean, Bob, Jim, Erin, Thomas, Scott, Lauren, Kelly, Jack, and Julian; and eighteen great grandchildren (with one on the way).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Braille Institute of America or to EWTN.
