Obituary of Janice Ann Despot
Janice Ann Despot, 67 of Cloquet passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2021. She was the light of her family's life and will be deeply missed.
She was born on December 6, 1953 to Arthur and Ann Earnest. Jan graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1972. She attended FDLTCC and UMD where she was a dedicated student who graduated with honors. She was on the Deans List and received her Masters Degree in social work. She used her knowledge and compassion in working for Essentia Hospitals, Hospice, and Palliative Care Program. She loved her job and all the people she met along the way. Over the years, Jan also did a lot of volunteer work for local churches, organizations and businesses.
Jan enjoyed spending time with her family, all of whom she spoiled at any chance possible. She loved the holidays and always went above and beyond with love, decorating and gifts. She had a heart of gold and would help anybody at anytime.
Jan was preceded in death by her first husband of 27 years, Barry Thomas Despot in 2001; second husband, Lloyd Timothy Hobaugh whom she married in 2007 until his passing in 2018; and her parents.
She is survived by her two loving sons, Brad (Angela) Despot of Wrenshall and Bernie (Kim) Despot of Barnum; five grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, Corey, Brianna (Conrad), and Alex all of whom she adored; one great granddaughter, Jan's pride and joy, Hailie; sister, Judy (Bob) Murray of Washington; and her beloved fur companion, Bearah.
The family would love for all who knew Jan to attend the visitation and/or funeral.
Visitation: 12:00 noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Monday, November 15, 2021 in Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14 Street, Cloquet.
