Janice Darlene Olsen Duncan

On an icy January 11, 1937; Ralph and Nellie Olsen welcomed their only daughter and gave her a name that was appropriate for the day Janice (Jan-ice) and because she was their little darling, Darlene.

Janice grew up in Chicago, Illinois, she was an avid ice and roller skater and a member of the synchronized swimming team in high school. After graduating she joined a friend on a trip to Wyoming where she met the love of her life, Ronald Anthony Duncan.

Ron and Janice were married on February 17, 1956, and they were married for 53 years. They welcomed two daughters, Rhonda and Ramona and spent their life together living all over the world courtesy of the United States Air Force. After 20 years in the Air Force the family settled in Austin, Texas.

Janice had many interests in her lifetime, she was an avid bowler, winning numerous tournaments, including a state championship in New Mexico, she enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her kids and grandkids, along with a few quilts. She also enjoyed cooking for others and volunteered many hours at her church, Abiding Love, food pantry. Her most cherished moments were those she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janice passed away on October 31, 2025. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Marks and her husband Mike, and Ramona McMahan and her husband Brian. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Jillian Marks Lemons, her husband Kelly and her five grandsons, Michael Marks, his wife Rachel, Kevin Marks, his wife Jessica, Travis Broussard, his wife Sarah, Will McMahan and Sam McMahan, his wife Madeline. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Conor Lemons, Rylee Lemons, Violet Marks, Charlotte Broussard, Emmary Lemons, Peyton Broussard, Henry Marks, Coralise Marks, Miller Broussard and Andrew Marks.

She is also survived by her brother, David Olsen, his wife Audrey and sisters in law Patricia Olsen and Geri Olsen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Ronald A. Duncan, her parents Ralph and Nellie Olsen, her brothers Ron and William Olsen and her great-grandson Sean Marks.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas beginning with visitation at noon and followed by funeral at 1:00 pm and internment immediately following at Forest Oaks Cemetery.
