Lisa arrived in Austin from Lubbock, Texas at the age of 2 with her parents Bill and Sallie, and her big sisters, Robin and Melinda. Lisa grew up attending schools in Austin, including Crockett High School, and, after living out of state and abroad after college, she returned to her beloved South Austin. Lisa loved South Austin, where she made her home, worked, and surrounded herself with Family and a lifetime of dear friends.
Lisa was an incredibly caring and gifted Educator in the Austin Independent School District, where she was Department Chair of the Special Education Department, as well as Key Club Advisor, at Crockett High School. Lisa had many former students and parents that remembered and credited her as someone who made a true difference in their academic career and in their lives. Lisa attended Texas State, formerly known as Southwest Texas, and graduated from The University of Texas. Later in life, Lisa attended UT once again to earn a Paralegal Degree. After her career at Crockett High School, Lisa went on to be a Math Instructor at Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas. Lisa helped many struggling students earn their GED.
Along with her love of teaching, Lisa loved to cook. Many Family members, and those in her circle of friends, were lucky recipients of Lisa's yummy baked goods and homestyle suppers, which she would deliver to your doorstep.
Lisa enjoyed the outdoors, especially running for a worthy cause. Many times, Lisa would talk Family and friends into joining her for a 5K or Marathon, and we would try to keep up with her on the trails.
Having attended UT, Lisa loved the Texas Longhorns, but she also really loved the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Lisa could be heard on many football Saturdays cheering and yelling both "Hook 'Em" and "Raider Power".
Lisa had a never-ending desire to "give" to others... Family, friends, furbabies.... Lisa would try to help when and where she saw a need.
Growing up in her Family of Bill, Sallie, Robin, and Melinda, Lisa knew the "Alexander way" of giving to others and sharing what you had been blessed with.
Often to a fault, Lisa always strived to be of service to others.
Lisa had struggles and faced challenges in her life, as we all do.
What those that knew, cared for, and loved Lisa will remember is that she never stopped loving her Family.
Lisa.... we are going to miss your fun-loving spirit, your humor, your quick wit, your generosity, your caring heart, your giving nature....
The beautiful light that you were, and always will be, to all of us.
Lisa.... Rest with Mom and Dad and all those you loved.
We love you always.
