Janice Durner Obituary
Janice Sutton Durner, 80, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, leaving behind a life defined by love and faith.
Born on January 21, 1945, to the late Herman and Ruby Sutton, she was raised in Albertson, NC. Jan made Havelock her home alongside her husband of 55 years, Rev. James Durner, who preceded her in death in 2020.
A longtime licensed realtor, Jan was known for her dedication to helping others find their perfect homes and her commitment to the United Methodist Church, where she served her community with her husband a Methodist minister.
She will be remembered for her spirit and her devotion to family.
Jan is survived by her three children, Leah (Chad) Menster, Gina (Cliff) Forehand, and James Durner; and five grandchildren, Kyle Simcox, Taylor Mullineaux, Jack Forehand, Megan Durner, and Bo Menster. She is also survived by her siblings, Mavis Smith, Travis Sutton, and Patsy Lee.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her siblings, Herman Sutton and Joyce Workman.
