Janice Aust (nee Herrmann), age 79, was born on November 8, 1946 in Covington, KY to the late Pauline (nee Parker) and August Herrmann. She passed away peacefully on Sunday January 11, 2026 with her family by her side, after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer.
Janice worked at Procter & Gamble for more than 30 years before retiring in 2007 from her role as a purchasing manager. She served on the Forest Ridge Condo Association Board for many years, including 2 terms as board president.
Janice was a bowling and golf enthusiast and played in recreational leagues. She was passionate about art of all types: painting, sketching, enameling, and culinary. She loved gathering with friends, including North Bend Yacht Club outings, Pampered Chef cooking classes, and 20+ years of annual trips to Cancun. She most cherished spending time with her granddaughter, especially weekly “grandma days” after school.
Janice is survived by her son Steven Aust (Karen), her brother David Herrmann (Adria), and her granddaughter Annabel Aust. She was preceded in death by her brother Michael Herrmann.
The family would like to thank the loving caregivers at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Bluegrass Hospice Care, Queen City Hospice, and Seven Acres Senior Living, for helping to shepherd Janice to a peaceful transition.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 16 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, KY 41017. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 11:30 am at Middendorf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be sent to the Brighton Center (or call 859-491-8303 ext. 2331), The Point Arc of Northern Kentucky, or the Northern Kentucky Action Commission.
