Janice Darleene Herron, of Osage Beach, Missouri, formerly of St. James, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Janice was born in Wyandott, Michigan on February 19, 1940 to the late Jessie Howard and Mabel Hanson (Napier) Moore.
Miss Janice Moore married the love her life Dr. Ralph Hanley Herron JR on January 29, 1966, this union was blessed with four children. Janice and Ralph made their home in St. James, Missouri where Janice taught third grade for over 25 years. Janice and Ralph moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and settled into lake living.
Janice had a swimming pool in the backyard that was kept busy in the summer. She loved having her grandchildren from in state and out of state stay with her in the summer, she taught them to swim, took them shopping, and most importantly valuing the time she spent with them. She was an avid reader, and rock collector. Janice was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist, she loved getting together with friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and will be lovingly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Janice is survived by her children, James Herron and wife Rose, of St. Marys, GA, Matthew Herron Sr. and wife Brande, of Ballwin, MO, and Melinda Furbee and husband Raymond, of Lake Ozark, MO; sister, Deanna Erkut and husband Terfik, of Turkey; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a host of extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Jessie and Mabel Moore, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 2018, and her son Richard.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Charlie Kempf officiating. Interment will be at the Southard Cemetery in St. James. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 5-7PM.
