WADESBORO – On Thursday, September 5, 2024, Mrs. Janice Dickens Kelly, 78, passed away peacefully at Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro with her loving family at her bedside.
There will be a memorial service at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Storz officiating. Inurnment will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter on McRae Avenue.
Janice was born December 21, 1945, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late O.M. Dickens and the late Sarah Jordan Dickens. She worked for many years at Little Cotton Manufacturing in Wadesboro as a supervisor.
She was a member of Mount Beulah Baptist Church. She and her husband Jerry were active foster parents in Anson County for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Morris of Wadesboro, Benny Kelly (Andrea) of Ansonville, Gina Kelly (Cory Cook) of Monroe, Tina Hildreth of Laurel Hill and Nate Cloninger of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Matt Morris (Tracy), Jason Morris, Jasper Hildreth,III and Zachary Hildreth all of Wadesboro, Weston Kelly (Scarlett) of Ansonville, Ember Cook and Ryker Cook both of Monroe; her 8 great-grandchildren and her brothers and sister, John Dickens (Sandra) of Laurinburg, Jimmy Dickens (Judy) of Mauriceville, TX and Carolyn Stephens of Sanford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bennett Kelly, her grandson, Jay Kelly and her brothers and sister, Ray Dickens, Brenda Townsend and Glenn Dickens.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Anson Health and Rehab for all they did for Janice while she was a resident there.
