Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremation Society - WildwoodJanice Marie Kieffaber (née Scheier), lovingly known as Jan, was born on February 25,1943 in Kansas City to Matt and Loretta Scheier. Jan passed peacefully on February 21, 2026, surrounded by close family at her son Patrick’s home in Nashville.
Jan graduated from Avila College, where her Catholic faith was further nurtured and strengthened. A devout Catholic throughout her life, Jan was a dedicated practitioner of her faith. She married the love of her life, Gene Kieffaber, in Kansas City, and together they shared 60 devoted years of marriage until his passing in December 2024. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to commitment, partnership, and enduring love.
Jan’s greatest joy and proudest vocation was being a stay-at-home mother for two sons. After her sons left home, she worked for 18 years at Standard Insurance Company, where her strong work ethic and great personality brought her professional growth and success.
In retirement, and as avid golfers, Jan and Gene made their home in The Villages, Florida where they were on the courses regularly. Even in this new environment, Jan's outgoing spirit and friendly nature helped her form many close friendships. She had a gift for conversation and connection, and she made people feel comfortable, included, and valued wherever she went.
Jan is survived by her son Paul M. Kieffaber and his wife Ann of Dallas and their son Jack (28); and by her son Patrick M. Kieffaber and his wife Lori of Nashville and their daughters Colleen (25) and Caroline (18). Nothing brought Jan greater happiness than her grandchildren, each of whom held a cherished place in her heart. She is also survived by her three siblings: brother Steve Scheier of Kansas City; brother Mark Scheier of Colorado and sister Cathleen Solsky of Colorado.
Jan will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith, her vibrant and outgoing personality, her genuine friendliness, and the steady love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the faith, warmth, and values she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 10th 2026, 10:00 AM at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Pl, Lady Lake, FL 32159.
