Midwest Cremation, Inc.Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Phyllis "Sue" Seaman Gill, 90, of Topeka, Kansas. Sue passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at St Francis Hospital. She was the cornerstone of our family, a source of endless love and strength. A devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, she was known for her kindness and devotion to her family and friends
Sue was born February 9, 1936, in Winfield, Kansas to Murray and Opal McGrew. Sue graduated from Ponca City High School, and shortly later married Lawrence "Larry" Seaman Sr in 1954. Together they raised 3 sons, Les, Mike, and Steve. Following Larry's passing Sue married Robert "Bob" Gill in 1987
Sue was trained in Montessori Education by a direct protégé of Maria Montessori. She taught countless children, touching young lives with her presence and creativity. She also taught Montessori Education at Avila University.
Sue was an avid reader, sometimes reading several books per week. She enjoyed playing bridge, doing cross stitch, cooking, piano, choir and cheering on the Chiefs.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents Murray and Opal McGrew, husbands Larry Seaman and Bob Gill, sons Lawrence Seaman Jr, Michael Seaman and Steven Seaman, sister Patsy Stanfield and granddaughter Emily Krueger-Grenke. She is survived by grandchildren Kelly Krueger-Seaman, Christen (Christopher) Gemsky, Jeremy Seaman, Jacob Poppe and great-granddaughter Isabella.
We are forever grateful to the staff and friends on the Lincoln Wing at The Gardens at Aldersgate in Topeka for their kindness, compassion, dedicated care, and companionship during Sues's final year.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Sue's life at Resurrection Church Leawood in the Communion Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS on April 4, 2025, at 1:30.
