Janice Kuhle, age 86 of Howard, SD, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Memorial Services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Howard.

Janice Kaye (Mette) Kuhle was born on September 25, 1939, in Roswell, South Dakota, to Henry and Lorraine (Schulz) Mette. She attended grade school in Vilas, SD, and later moved to Howard attending high school in Howard and graduated with honors in English and Journalism. She married Daryle Kuhle in March of 1957, and seven children were born to this union, Rick, Randy, Tammy, Dan, Tom, Darla and Daryn.

During her life she enjoyed living on the farm raising her children, cooking for family, friends and hunters, along with raising chickens and growing vegetables in her garden. Her home was open to friends, neighbors and salesmen cooking meals and always served them with pies and dessert. She loved cooking and baking and baked pies for 4-H and many Farm and Home Shows and selling them at Farmers Market. Her flower garden, watching Twins baseball, and having coffee with her dear close friends were her favorite pastimes. She also loved singing since her school days in choir and throughout her life in church.

When her children were all in school, Janice worked for Raven Industries for many years including in Howard, Desmet, Huron and Salem. She loved to sew and was always willing to do special projects or mending for her kids.

Janice was active in church including St. Johns Ladies Aid and throughout years was a Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed quilting, bowling, golfing, painting and gardening. She enjoyed going to country music concerts with her two loving sisters June and Sheryle. Most of all she loved being with her family and spending holidays with them.

Janice leaves behind her beloved children: Rick (Janice) Kuhle of Beulah, WY, and his children, Nathan Kuhle, McKenzie (Kevin) Butcher, and Jennings (Mindy) Kuhle; Randy Kuhle of Sioux Falls, SD, and his children, Brandi (Jeremiah) Bethke, Austin Kuhle, Alexis (Jason) Kuiken, Rylan Kuhle and Landon Kuhle; Tammy (Steve) Zulk of Canova, SD, and daughter Tara (DJ) Albrecht; Dan (Tami) Kuhle of Howard, SD, and their children, Greg (Brooke) Kuhle, Karissa Kuhle, Jenna (Tucker) Gassman, and Jordan Kuhle; Tom Kuhle (Joline Miller) of Sioux Falls, SD, and his son, Curtis (Rachel) Kraft Mattson; Darla (Tim) Scott of Sioux Falls, SD, and children, Katherine and Joseph; and Daryn (Kami) Kuhle of Rapid City, SD, and children, Joseph Irvine, Skye Smith (Jace Schumacher), Cole Smith and Shilo Smith; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Janice leaves behind her brother Larry (Reva) Mette and Doug (Nancy) Mette, and her sisters Sheryle (Dick) Prostrollo and June (Gene) Neises, and many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and dear friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents Henry (Hank) and Lorraine Mette, brothers Ron and his wife Janice, Barney and his wife Bobbie, and her very special grandson, Tyler Zulk.
