Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Janice Ellen Kietzman Larson, 78, of Sandwich, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 2, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband and daughters.
Born on September 16, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, Janice was the daughter of the late Herman and Marie Kietzman. She grew up in Flint and graduated from Kearsley High School, where she built lifelong friendships and first developed her gift for genuinely caring about others.
Janice married the love of her life, John Larson of Aurora, Illinois and together they shared 12 wonderful years — including three years of marriage — filled with love, laughter and companionship. John’s devotion to Janice throughout her illness was faithful and unwavering — a true reflection of love in its purest form.
She was the devoted mother of Dawn Augenstein of Roanoke, Illinois and Jennifer (Bobby) Nichols of Travelers Rest, South Carolina and a loving stepmother to Jennifer (Nick) Corso.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bobby (Melissa) Wilson and their children Tobias, Tori, and Teagan; Christopher Wilson and his children Nora and Milo; Jacob (Lizzie) Sall and their daughter Holland; Jason (Allie) Sall and Ella Sall; and step-grandchildren Kacey and Katie Nichols, Alyssa Meadowcroft, Ayden, Austen, and Alex Corso.
Janice is also survived by her brother James (Jody) Kietzman and was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Albert (Annette) Milburn.
She lived in Flint, Michigan, until 2007, when she moved to Sandwich, Illinois. For much of her life, Janice served her family as a stay-at-home mom — a role she considered her greatest calling. In the 1990s, she began working as a Hallmark Merchandiser, spreading kindness and joy wherever she went. Later, she found purpose and fulfillment volunteering at the Sharing Food Pantry in Somonauk, Illinois, where her compassion and generosity touched countless lives.
A lifelong Lutheran, Janice loved the Lord with all her heart and was deeply involved in her church. Her unwavering faith guided her through every season of life and was a constant source of strength and peace.
Janice had a gift for making every person feel special. She loved crafting, cooking for her family, shopping for the perfect find, and long conversations filled with laughter and wisdom. She was the person who showed up, listened deeply and poured love into every moment — whether through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful card, or a prayer whispered on someone’s behalf.
Her family and friends will remember her for her faith, kindness, grace, forgiveness, humor and unwavering love. She left a legacy of strength and grace that will continue to shine through all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 9:00 – 11:30 A.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL 60548. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 A.M. with her nephew, Brad Chandonnet, officiating. A graveside service will follow out to Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for all the prayers, love, and support throughout her journey.
