Janice LaVonne Lewis, 67, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Effingham County Hospital. Born on September 10, 1957, in Savannah, Georgia,

Janice was a shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege to know her. Janice was a true homebody at heart, finding immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished the time spent with her loving family, always looking forward to going out to eat at every opportunity. Her warm and nurturing spirit was evident in the way she engaged with her loved ones, creating lasting memories through shared meals and laughter.

Beyond her fondness for family gatherings, Janice found delight in her leisure activities. She enjoyed playing Candy Crush, and frequently losing herself in the world of puzzles and challenges that brought her joy. She had a deep love for music and would often be found dancing around the house.

Janice had a particular fondness for art and craft shows, especially when visiting these events with her sister. These outings were treasured moments that reflected her passion for creativity and connection with those close to her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lewis; parents, Willie and Lois Googe; and sisters, Patricia Livingston and Delores Rogers.

Janice will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her loving children, Shannon English (Paul Young) of Beaufort, Howell Timothy Winters, Jr. (Kristin “Nikki” Abney) of Kentucky, and Brandon Bishop (Ashley Wilds) of Springfield; stepsons, Derek Bishop, Sr. (Christina) of Alabama, and Jamie Bishop (Leann) of Fleming; grandchildren, Amber Anaya, Chelsey Borders, Dalton English, Serenity Winters, Bubba Winters, Miley Bishop, Chanse Winters, Braelyn Winters, Derek Bishop, Jr., Audrey Bishop, Shawn Bishop, and Jacob Bishop; sisters, Darlene Cooler of Guyton, and Betty Salyer of Port Wentworth; 13 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11am-12pm with a celebration of life to follow at 12pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
