Janice Marie Luther, born on February 21, 1955, in Buncombe County, NC, embraced life with a sassy charm that illuminated the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. After a long and courageous battle with an extended illness, she peacefully departed this world on December 7, 2025, in Fletcher, NC.
Janice was preceded in death by her cherished nephew and child of her heart, Michael Hayes, as well as her dear sister, Margaret Elaine Luther, and brother, Charles Frazier Luther. She was also welcomed into eternal rest by her loving parents, Jack and Edna Morris Luther, who undoubtedly greeted her with open arms.
Janice dedicated many years to managing NC Cleaners, where her infectious laughter and fun-loving spirit turned mundane activities into joyful experiences. Her heart was equally devoted to her role in daycare education, where she fostered learning and laughter. Those memories of her dressing as Santa for the children at school will always bring smiles to the faces of both young and old alike, a testament to her ability to spread joy wherever she went.
An ardent lover of animals, Janice had a special affinity that seemed to transcend the ordinary. Her home was a haven for butterflies, hummingbirds, and squirrels, which she cherished deeply. Her passion for life mirrored her love for her family – her proudest accomplishments that she cherished most of all were her children and grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her beloved children, Amy Marie Towe (Davy) of Fletcher, Kristy Lynn Wilson (Matt) of Cullowhee, and Dallas John Moore (Jessica) of Canton. Her sister, Joyce Luther Ball, also survives her. In her role as a grandmother, she delighted in the lives of Joshua Towe (Hiral), Justin Towe (Whitney), Katelyn Towe, Dalton Herrell (Savannah), Zackery Wilson, Karli Moore, Kalyn Shook (Mack), and Madilyn Moore. As a great-grandmother of Corbin, Colton, Peyton, and Canaan, who were the apples of her eye, she was also looking forward to welcoming another little one to the family. She had an unbreakable bond with Charlene Luther and Luanne Meade, and is also survived by her lifelong, steadfast friend Sherri Burrell. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have known her nurturing spirit.
A remarkable woman, Janice Marie Luther, will be forever remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering love for her family, and capacity to find joy even in the simplest moments. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love her.
A Celebration of Jan's Life will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers Donations be made in Jan's Memory to Sarge's Animal Shelter.
