Jan is survived by her husband, Lawrence; and her children Kathryn Ventricelli and her husband Carlo, Abbey Cocuzza and her husband Christopher, and her son Michael McClain. She was the beloved Nana to her two granddaughters Maddalena and Milania Ventricelli and was thrilled to know she was to welcome her first grandson (Cocuzza) this spring.
Her memory will live on with her three siblings Frederick (Rick) and his wife Elizabeth, John (Jack) and his wife Geraldine, and her sister Jill Adie and her husband Donald. As well as her sister-in-law Carol Martin and her husband Frederick, sister-in-law JoAnn Ames and her husband David, her brother-in-law John Kirkhum and his wife Margaret, her brother-in-law Paul Kirkhum, and her brother-in-law Harry Gerard.
Jan was born on April 6, 1955, in Lowell, Massachusetts to the late Frederick and Dorothy (Boyle) McSwiggin. She grew up in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School in 1973. Jan was very proud to be a girl officer at LHS. After high school, she attended Katherine Gibbs secretarial school in Boston. After meeting her husband, Lawrence, Jan relocated to New Jersey where she raised her family and spent the rest of her years.
Jan enjoyed spending her childhood vacationing in Dennisport on Cape Cod with her family and cousins. She frequently visited with her family at Squam Lake in New Hampshire and loved spending her days at the Jersey shore. Jan enjoyed being active and became a certified aerobics instructor in the 90s. Whenever there was music on, Jan was dancing. She also loved celebrating holidays with her big family.
Jan was employed by an electrical supply company prior to the birth of her children. She then worked at Katherine D. Malone (KDM) Elementary School in Rockaway Township as a paraprofessional for many years once her children were older and in school full-time. Jan enjoyed being a homemaker and being an active participant in all her children's sports and after school activities. She could be seen cheering Kathryn, Abbey, and Michael on everywhere from dance recitals, basketball games, track meets, wrestling matches, and football games. She was always so proud of her children and all their accomplishments even as they became adults and started on their own career paths.
Jan was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Dorothy (Boyle) McSwiggin, her mother-in-law Shirley McClain, and her sister-in-law, Paulette Gerard. Jan also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved very much.
