Janice Marie Menking, 72 years, of Valley, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Arbor Care Center- Valhaven in Valley. She was born on September 28, 1952, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Eldon Lee and Deloris Edna (Knight) Davis.
Janice was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. After high school, she worked for several years as a waitress at Eldon's Place in Fremont, Nebraska. She was known for her kind heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for her family.
Throughout her life, Janice moved frequently but spent the majority of her years in Fremont, Nebraska, before relocating to Valley in 2021, where she lived until her passing. She briefly resided in Texas from 1974 to 1979 but eventually returned to Fremont, a place she considered home for many years.
Janice was an active member of the Mormon Church in Fremont and enjoyed participating in church activities. She found joy in simple pleasures such as playing bingo, coloring, and spending time with her family. She was an avid supporter of the Nebraska Huskers and the Dallas Cowboys. Janice especially loved attending her son Erin's softball games and watching her grandchildren grow.
Janice's love for her family and friends was boundless, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Erin (Miranda) Menking of Valley, Nebraska and Shane (Kelly) Menking of Austin, Texas; her grandchildren Conan, Cooper, Copelyn, Natalie, Sara, and CJ Menking; brothers, Bill (Candy) Davis of Fremont, Nebraska and Steve (Nancy) Davis of Hooper, Nebraska; and sister Kathi (Dave) McIntyre of Omaha, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Barb, Jackie, and Susan; and grandson, Tucker Davis Menking.
A private service will be held to honor her life and legacy.
