Janice Rachel Porter

Janice Rachel Porter, a beloved individual whose joyful spirit touched the lives of many, was born on November 14, 1948, in Cleveland County, North Carolina. She passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at White Oak Manor in Shelby, NC, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Throughout her life, Janice radiated warmth and kindness. She was known for her deep love of beach music, which always brought a smile to her face and dance to her feet. Many who knew her fondly remember Janice as one of the best cloggers around, captivating audiences with her rhythm and enthusiasm. Her passion for dancing was only rivaled by her love for the outdoors and cooking delightful meals, often shared with family and friends. Traveling to the beach was one of her favorite pastimes, where she found joy and solace.

Janice's family and friends will continue to celebrate her vibrant spirit, most notably her daughter, Beth Jones, and her husband, Kenny Jones Jr., of Franklinton, NC, as well as her niece, Leeann Davenport of Shelby, NC. The bond they shared with Janice was profound, filled with moments of laughter, love, and support that defined their relationships.

She now joins her cherished family who have preceded her in death: her father, John Porter; her mother, Mattie Philbeck Porter; her sister, Carolyn Philbeck; her brother, Buddy Porter; and her sisters, Patricia Porter and Frances Porter. Though they are no longer physically with her, their memories and love continue to live on in the hearts of those who remain.

The impact of Janice's life will be celebrated at a Celebration of Life service held on January 22, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory in Shelby, NC. It promises to be a heartfelt gathering, bringing together all those who loved Janice and wish to honor the remarkable person she was.

Janice will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and warmth will forever remain etched in the hearts of her family and friends, illuminating their paths, just as she illuminated theirs during her time on this earth.

A celebration of life service will be held from 1:00pm - 2:00pm Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Cleveland Funeral Services in Shelby, NC.
