It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice "Kelly" Mitchell Reid, who departed this life on June 1, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on February 6, 1941, in Lafayette, Indiana, Kelly was the cherished daughter of William and Christine Mitchell.
Kelly spent most of her life in the close-knit communities of Dayton and Mulberry, Indiana. She attended Dayton School and graduated from Mulberry High School in 1959. Furthering her education, she also studied at Purdue University. Kelly dedicated her career to financial and accounting roles, spending her last decade as a financial planner with Regions and Raymond James. She found immense joy in helping her clients and forged many lasting friendships through her work.
Family was paramount to Kelly. She loved recounting stories of days gone by, keeping the memories of both past and present generations alive. She was first married to Melvin Mink in 1963 until his passing in 1971. From this marriage, they had a daughter, Toni Mink, who passed away in May 1964 as an infant. Kelly later found love again and married Roy Reid on April 28, 1972. Together, Kelly and Roy welcomed their daughter, Heather Stene, who is married to David Stene. Kelly was a loving grandmother to Alex and Brianna Stene. She was immensely proud of her family and would share pictures and stories to everyone that would listen.
Known for her "can-do" attitude, Kelly was a hard worker who poured her love into caring for animals and her home. She was also an avid reader, always eager to delve into a good book. Kelly's loving spirit, unwavering dedication to her family, and warm friendships will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, William and Christine Mitchell; her first husband, Melvin Mink; and her infant daughter, Toni Mink.
She is survived by her husband Roy Reid of 53 years, daughter Heather Stene, son-in-law David Stene and grandchildren Alex and Brianna Stene.
