Janice K. Reinhardt
St. Louis - Janice Reinhardt, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on March 1, 2025, just before sunrise. For eight decades, she filled our lives with unending love and laughter. Janice was a creative light in the world, and those who knew her will fondly remember her paintings, jewelry, and delicious berries.
Born in 1944 in Macedonia, IL, Janice was a wonderful combination of ambition, kindness, and creativity. While attending Sanford Brown Business College, she became Miss St. Louis, a title that reflected both her beauty and talents. As the Executive Secretary at American Steel Foundries people would enjoy calling in just to hear her pleasant voice say, "Jan Reinhardt – how may I help you?"
As a founding member of the Land of Goshen Community Market, she served as Secretary and Historian for over 25 years, generously sharing not only her technical and artistic skills, but also her warmth and kindness.
A true artist at heart, Janice found joy in painting, photography, jewelry making, and gardening. She was well accessorized for every outing and was always seen in her handmade scarves and matching earrings. As we know, Janice's favorite flower was whichever one was immediately in front of her. The only thing bigger than her smile was her heart – which was evident even in her final days, as she continually thanked those who cared for her.
Her legacy lives on through her three daughters, Kim, Val, and Shelly. With a big grin on her face, she often said, "You girls are so smart, I think you got that from me." In different ways, they each embody her determination, attention to detail, and ability to love deeply.
Janice's marriage to her beloved husband, David, brought her immense joy. Together they traveled far and wide. They shared a love of farming, and in their retirement cultivated a thriving you-pick berry patch.
She embraced their blended family, gaining three more children. Together, they cherished 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild with another on the way. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit.
Janice is survived by her husband, David Reinhardt; three daughters, Kim (Koelker) Murphy (Tim), Valerie (Koelker) Rasche (Joe), and Shelly (Koelker) Couch (Kendall); three stepchildren, Greg Reinhardt (Dawn), Joe Reinhardt (Lisa), and Kris (Reinhardt) Lynn (Steve). She was preceded by her parents, Floyd and Vesta (Sanders) Foster and brother, Phil Foster. Janice was always grateful for her immediate and extended family, friends that were like family, and countless others whose lives were enriched by knowing her. We honor her memory and the impact she had on all who crossed her path.
A visitation for Janice will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Dauderman Mortuary, 609 East Main St. in Alhambra, IL. Her burial at Salem Evangelical Cemetery will immediately follow. The family invites you to join them for a luncheon after the burial at Salem United Church of Christ, 1117 W North St. in Alhambra.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions can be made to the Land of Goshen Community Market, Salem Evangelical Cemetery, or a
charity of your choice.
May her legacy of love and creativity continue to comfort and inspire us all.
