It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice F. Schwarz, née Fuqua, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world suddenly after a stroke on March 4, 2026. Janice (Jan) was born on March 1, 1953, in
St. Petersburg, Florida, to the late Frank and Gertrude Fuqua. She was 73 years old and resided for the last eight years in
Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Jan's life was filled with love, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to her family. In 1980, she married the love of her life, Mario Schwarz, and together they spent 45 wonderful years building a life filled with joy, companionship, and shared dreams.
Jan's professional journey was marked by her years as a customer service representative for Gainesville Regional Utilities and her clerical work at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Outside of her career, Jan was an avid gardener who found serenity and joy in tending to her plants. She also had a passion for puzzles, finding happiness in the quiet moments spent piecing them together. She especially loved going on Caribbean cruises with Mario. However, her greatest delight was spending time with her grandchildren, particularly her grandson Jacqson, with whom she shared a special bond.
Jan was predeceased by her parents and six of her seven siblings.
In addition to her brother Ken Fuqua (Linda), Jan leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Mario; her two sons, Shane Edgar (Jonee Infante) and Jeremy Edgar (Kayla); her step-daughter, Carrie Bacon (Doug); and her three beloved grandchildren, Jordan Bacon-Graveline (Shaw), Kendall Bacon, and Jacqson Edgar. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she took immense pleasure in supporting and celebrating their achievements.
In this time of sorrow, the Schwarz family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Health First for their exceptional care and support during Jan's final days. Their kindness and professionalism provided comfort to her and her family.
Jan passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire us all. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in the lives of her family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held to honor Janice's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tim Tebow Foundation (timtebowfoundation.org) in Jan's memory.
As per Jan's wishes, her family will scatter her ashes in the Atlantic Ocean. It will be her last cruise. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
