Topsfield, MA – Janice C. (Fuchs) Scibelli, 81, longtime resident of Topsfield passed away on December 24, 2024, at the Beverly Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Somerville on April 11, 1943, to her late parents Albert and Theresa (Burke) Fuchs. Janice was raised and educated in Melrose. In a simple ceremony on April 24, 1965, she married the love of her life.
Janice was a familiar and smiling face that many could recognize in the Topsfield, Boxford, and Middleton communities. She worked for many years as the school secretary to the principal of the Masconomet Regional Middle/High School until retirement. Mrs. Scibelli, as she was affectionately known, helped mold several generations of students at the school. Being a devout Catholic, never wavering from her faith, she was a communicant at both Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Topsfield and Saint Agnes Parish in Middleton. Janice was known for her selflessness and would always help those who were less fortunate than herself.
Many things can be said about a person, but the one thing everyone can agree on is that Janice was extremely proud and supportive of her family. From attending one of her daughter's triathlon or marathon races, spending time at one of her six grandchildren's events, or sharing her highly guarded recipes, especially for her self-proclaimed "World Famous Blueberry Muffins", she was the cherished "Mimi" of her family. As a gift of her selfless compassion, she volunteered countless hours at the local hospices, providing comfort and relief to those in their final moments of need.
Janice had great love for her time spent with good company, between her devoted friends and family. Spending her summers in Kennebunk, ME, she was the person to talk to for restaurant recommendations between there and the North Shore, especially when it came to a good lobster roll. Janice touched many lives in many different circles, where she will fondly be loved, cherished, and missed by all.
Janice, who was the dear matriarch of her family, is survived by her three daughters; Susan Strachan and her husband David, of Kennebunk, ME and formerly of Topsfield, Sandra Scibelli of Manhattan, NY, and Stacey Scibelli and her husband Don Motz of Gilbert, AZ. She is also the treasured grandmother to her six grandchildren; Aydan Strachan, Aliza Strachan, Gracyn Strachan, Zebadiah Scibelli, Griffin Scibelli, and Wyatt Scibelli. Janice will also be missed by the family pets, Moxie (named in appreciation to her husband) and Oliver. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband Anthony J. Scibelli, with whom she celebrated over 28 years of marriage together before his untimely passing in 1994. She is also predeceased by her three sisters; Constance Kayes, Joan Hardway, and Jacqueline Kelley.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Rose of Lima Parish, 12 Park Street Topsfield, on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The family will receive guests beginning at 9:30 AM prior to the start of the mass. Interment will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Topsfield. Contributions in Janice's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 320 Nevada St #201, Newton, MA 02460 for her loving support of her family members who were afflicted with the disease. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
