Janice Marie Sheldon, 81 of Sabin, MN passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, peacefully in her home surrounded by family and under the wonderful care of Sanford Hospice.
Janice was born to Frank and Adeline (Bengtson) DeGroat on April 10, 1944, in Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up in Lake Park, MN and graduated from Lake Park High School in 1962. She went on to attend Moorhead State University before starting her own daycare which she ran for nearly 20 years. Janice then enrolled in Interstate Business College and received her degree as a Certified Medical Assistant. She accepted a position with Eventide Senior Living where she spent 17 years until her retirement.
In 1995, Janice married Mike Sheldon in Aberdeen, SD and together they made their home in Sabin. Janice was an avid reader and had a deep faith that guided her throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time outside watching birds and various other wildlife. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by her husband, Mike; daughters, Debbie (Bob) Dobbins, Cathy (Dan) Rice, Sue (Bob) Mullins, and Paula (Gene) Galinat; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Kristi Schroeder and Scott Sheldon; and sisters, Marlys (Bill) Johnson and Cheri (Jon) Brammer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Adeline; son, Randy Cyr; stepson, Bryan Sheldon; son-in-law, Bob Mullins, and sisters, Joan Wilson and Barbara Brown.
A memorial service with Livestream will be held Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
