John R. Sheldon

John R. Sheldon, 65, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in St. Clair Hospital. He was born April 5, 1960, a son of the late Adelbert and Betty Jane Morrison Sheldon. John was a 1978 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute for welding. After graduating PTI, he went to work as a welder for McGraw- Edison in Canonsburg. He then worked in fleet service for US Airways for 23 years followed by 16 years as a Pennsylvania State Dog Warden, retiring in August of 2021. He was a member of the Washington Chapter #16 Blue Knights. John was an avid motorcycle rider and was in the process of restoring his 1980 GMC step side pickup truck. He enjoyed hunting and when he was younger, he was a competitive motocross racer. Most important to John was his family, friends, his dogs, Bailey and Ellie, and his granddogs. On May 15, 1982, he married Lori McCarthy, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Meghan Sandy and husband Patrick of Eighty Four, and Kate McNeish and husband Phillip of Canonsburg; his brother-in-law, Ed McCarthy (Sandra) of Monessen; and a sister-in-law, Kris Lesnock (Matthew) of Canonsburg. In addition to his parents, a brother, Jeffrey A. Sheldon, is deceased. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Monday, February 16, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K.
