Janice Lee Smith, 70 of Logan, WV departed this life Thursday, July 27, 2023, at CAMC General Hospital.
She was born August 12, 1952, at Holden, WV to the late Emil Kinser, and Icie (Fannin) Kinser. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her one and only baby boy, Lucky R. Jones; brothers, Billy A. Browning, Glen Ray Browning, and Jack Browning; sisters, Nyoka Akers, and Gail Copley; and two very good friends, William “Coochie” Cooper, and Mary Preece who worked for her almost the entire time Sports Lounge was open.
Jan was the owner of the Sports Lounge for over 30 years, where she made many life-long friends over the years that she cherished dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Ballard E. Smith; brother, Jeanuel Browning; sisters, Pauline Carter, and Wanda Perkins, and a host of nieces and nephews who she was like a mother to and was always there for them.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Pastor Lonnie Gore officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
