Janice Spooner Obituary

Janice Ann Spooner, 87, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, passed away July 25, 2023, at Solon Nursing Care Center, Solon, Iowa. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rights were accorded and a private family burial was held. Gay & Ciha Funeral Home of Iowa City assisted the family. Janice was born in Clinton, Iowa, on Oct. 17, 1935, the daughter of George and Mildred (Fuller) Hill. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1953. Janice married Dwayne Spooner on June 12, 1955. Janice was employed by the Clinton County Attorney's Office and Clinton Printing. She was a past member of First Methodist Church. Janice was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Wa-Tan-Ye, Clinton Women's Club, CHS Lunch Bunch, Rainbow Girls, Pep Club and a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed the outdoors, reading, wildlife, crafts and games. Janice's greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janice is survived by daughters, Traci Bray, Montgomery, Ala.; Robin (Al) Ostedgaard, Iowa City, Iowa; Kerri (Bill) Dufour, Mt. Carroll, Ill.; grandchildren, Lainey Stahle (Ned Carter), Hallie (Eric) Jetter and Joseph (Maria) Dufour; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Rhett, Jacoby and Miles; sister, Karen (Joe) Berger of Bellefontaine, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother David Hill. Memorials may be made to Stead Family Children's Hospital Child Life Program or St. Croix Hospice of Cedar Rapids.
