BESSEMER, Mich. - Janice M. Wanden, age 71, of Bessemer, formerly of Janesville, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital surrounded by her family.

Janice was born on June 27, 1954, to Oscar and Ethel (Mc Glin) La Belle. She attended Joseph A. Craig Senior High School in Janesville and graduated in 1972.

Her most recent career was a board member on the Bessemer Housing Commission.

Janice and her family enjoyed many activities together. She enjoyed cooking, taking trips to the casino, watching true crime, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Janice is survived by four children, Staci Smith, Stephaine Wanden, Justin Wanden and Kesha (Cole Stone); grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Briar (Savonna) Smith, Tristen (Alexis) Wanden, Ashley Smith, Tahaner Pumala, Hailey Tilton, Isiah Wanden, Ethan Wanden, Echo Stone, Sophia Jacobson and Rollin Stone; and great-grandchildren, Carter Wanden, Gracie Smith, Nash Smith, Ellie Smith and Darwin Tilton-Jones. Her loss is also felt by her siblings, Henry (Jill) Mc Glin, Jim (Debora) La Belle, John La Belle, Audrey La Belle and Teri (Kent) Clemens.

Janice was preceded in death by Oscar and Ethel Labelle; Vergina La Belle, Devin Wanden and Linda La Belle.

There will be no funeral service held at this time. The family will honor and commemorate her life at a private time.

The family would like to send their sincerest gratitude to the nurses at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital for taking such wonderful care of Janice in her final moments.
