William Leap (Debby) of Cypress, Texas; two grandchildren Troy Powell (Emily) and Brent Powell (Yeilis) both of Ft. Worth, Texas; and two great grandsons Noah and Gabriel Powell also of Ft. Janice was born in Hannibal, Missouri, in 1941, to Henry W. and Barbara L. Leap. She received her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and her master's degree in library science from North Texas State University. In 1962, Janice married the late Charles H. Sullivan of Hannibal. They worked and raised their daughter, Teresa, in Kansas City, Missouri, and Dallas, Texas.
Janice remained in the Dallas area, working as a librarian at the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas. She later met and married the late Dr. William Howard Wisner. Janice and Howard made their homes in Dallas, Celeste, and finally Mineola, Texas. They shared a love of travel and aviation and spent a significant portion of their time traveling around the world together. They circumnavigated the globe on three occasions and explored every continent, except Antarctica, at least once. They successfully achieved a Guinness World Record while flying in formation around the world. Janice served as the co-pilot and navigator during these accomplishments.
Janice loved animals and cared for horses, cattle, dogs, and her true love, cats. She was an active member and volunteer with the Mineola Historical Museum and a past member of the Mineola Zoning and Planning Board.
She will be deeply missed by all her friends, relatives, and family. There will be a celebration of life in Mineola, Texas at a later date.
