Janina Bacal

1931 - 2021

It is with our deepest sorrow to announce that Janina Bacal, 90, passed in peace on June 2, 2021, with her loving family by her side. Born to Jozef and Anna (Wozniak) Socha in Poland on April 21, 1931, Janina was predeceased by her adored husband, Krystyn Bacal, with whom she lived in New Britain for over 55 years. She is survived by their two daughters Henryka Dworak and her husband Robert, and Marianna Kolodziej and her husband Waldek. Janina also leaves behind five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and will forever remain as their beloved Babcia.
Janina was a devoted matriarch to her family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with everyone and watching her grandchildren grow and start families of their own. She never let you sit with an empty plate or glass in front of you and always wished more for others than herself. Her great grandchildren were always eager to hear Babcia's stories of her childhood in Poland. A devoted Catholic, Janina worked extremely hard and was proud of all that she achieved. She was employed for many years with Atlantic Tool Co. and Wasley Products. Growing up in Poland during World War II, she never complained of her struggles and always sought out the positive in every situation. Janina had a steadfast love for all those around her and showed it with her constant smile and warm embrace. She will be forever missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. Her funeral service will begin on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain.
