Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goldman Funeral Chapel - Malden on Mar. 2, 2026.
Janis (Azoff) Langille passed away on March 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Janis lived a life defined by strength, loyalty, quick wit, and unwavering love.
Janis was born on April 27, 1947, and grew up in Suffolk Square in
Malden, Massachusetts. She and Edwin Langille met when they were in junior high school in Malden. Though life took them on separate paths for a time, they reconnected years later and built a marriage that brought out the very best in each other. Together, they were the happiest versions of themselves. Janis made Ed smile with her sharp humor and quick wit, and Ed made Janis smile with his generous heart and amazing voice. They loved going to see live bands together, and Janis especially loved listening to Ed sing with the Beale Street Band. Their partnership was one of deep friendship, laughter, and enduring love.
Janis and Ed built a beautiful life centered around family. She was a proud and loving mother to her twin daughters, Lauren and Rebecca. Lauren and her husband, Eric Geddry, are the loving parents of Ella and Avery. Rebecca and her husband, Matthew Manning, are the proud parents of Cameron and Liam. Janis absolutely adored her grandchildren. She and Ed never missed a sporting event, school play, concert, recital, or graduation. Watching her grandchildren grow and thrive was one of her greatest joys, and she was endlessly proud of each of them.
Janis will join her parents, Julius and Ruth Azoff, along with her beloved grandchildren, Benjamin and Liliana, whom she held in her heart always. The same fierce love with which she watched over her family here will continue in our hearts.
She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Karen Steed and her partner, Richard Sargent; her niece Gennifer Steed and nephew Sam Steed; and the many great-nieces and great-nephews she treasured, including Ben and his wife, Rowan, Brandon, Ryder, Jessica, and Julian. She loved watching Ben and Brandon grow into the special people they are today, and Ryder always brought a smile to her face. She is survived as well by her brother, Alan Azoff and his partner Ginny Hines, his children Nathalia and Julian; Nathalia's husband, Bruno; and their daughters, Cecilia and Emilia. Janis held each of them close to her heart.
A retired attorney, Janis was strong, intelligent, and deeply respected. She made an impact on everyone who knew her. She was someone we all looked up to and not only for her professional accomplishments, but for her courage, independence, strength, and integrity. She taught her daughters to be strong, brave, and caring women, and her influence will live on through them.
Janis leaves friends and family who will miss her immensely. Her love was steady, her pride in her family endless, and her presence unforgettable.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday 11 AM at the Beth Israel Cemetery 251 Main St (Route 28)
North Reading, Massachusetts. Following the service, Lauren and Rebecca invite family and friends to an open house at Lauren's home at 50 Chase Road in
Londonderry, NH, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to gather, share memories, and celebrate Janis's life. Please feel free to stop in and honor her by sharing a story or memory.
