Janis L. Lyon, age 76, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born on April 12, 1947, in Chicago, IL to William and Theresa (Zilinsky) Becvar, proudly making her 100% Czechoslovakian.
On June 1, 1974, she married Donald E. Lyon. Janis was a dedicated farm wife and mother. She very much enjoyed hosting gatherings for family, friends, and neighbors. Janis spent a number of years as the Treasurer for Sioux Creek Township. She was a very talented crafter, and her hobbies turned into so much more. She was well known on the local craft fair circuit. Janis would cut, sand and paint many wooden figurines. Janis also loved to decorate cakes, having made many wedding and graduation cakes. She shared her knowledge of cake decorating teaching many girls at her home for the Sioux Creek Go-Getters 4-H group.
Janis is survived by her husband: Donald Lyon of Chetek; son: Donald Jr. (Christy) Lyon of Bloomer; granddaughters: Cassandra Prince and Corrine Prince (Andrew Lawrence). She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Theresa Becvar.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at the Zion Cemetery in Sand Creek. Olson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bloomer is assisting the family with arrangements.
