Janis E. Yunker

Janis E. Yunker, 73, of Galion, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at Manorcare of Westerville. Born Nov. 29, 1939 in Crestline, she was the daughter of the late Edward Herman and Vivian June (Mattocks) Yunker. She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1957 and Mansfield Beauty College in 1959. Jan was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Galion, Friends of Galion Public Library, and was a volunteer for HomeCare Matters in Galion. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and making afghans. She was a hairdresser and owned and operated Jan's Beauty Shop in Galion. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Glen Scherer of Westerville; one sister-in-law, Barb Yunker of Galion; also several nieces and nephews, Pamela (Joel) Kratzer, Stephen (Maria) Scherer, Cindy (Brad) Smith, Tom (Diana) Yunker, Tim (Tara) Yunker, Troy (Dee) Yunker, Chris (Scott) Carpenter; eight great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece; one great-great nephew and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Yunker. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating.
