 Deacon Jannie R. Walker stepped out of time and awoke in eternity to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the 26th of July, 2012.   Jannie was a radiant Christian and loving example to her family, church, colleagues, students and friends. She took great pride in being a beautiful person, both inside and out. As a committed disciple of Christ she gave herself to the study of God's Word, meditation thereon, prayer and encouragement of others.  Jannie Sellers entered the world by way of her Godly parents, Samuel and Rebecca Sellers in Newport News, Virginia. Jannie spent her formative years as a student of the Newport News Public Schools, ultimately graduating from the historic Huntington High School. Being raised in a God-fearing home she was saved and an active member of Saint Timothy Church of Christ (Holiness) USA, participating in Sunday School and the choir for many years.   Jannie continued her education after high school becoming a proud Spartan at Norfolk State University graduating in 1969 with a bachelor's degree. After graduation she taught business classes at Denbigh High School for seven years.   Jannie joined in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Mr. Reginald R. Walker of Yonkers, New York on June 22, 1974. Soon after their nuptials they moved to Irmo, South Carolina where Jannie was employed as an administrator at FM 92.1, The Palm.  Later Jannie and Reginald relocated to Wyckoff, New Jersey where they expanded their family adding their beloved son and daughter, Stephen and Desiree'.  Mrs. Walker continued her teaching career at Glen Rock High School teaching business classes and impacting thousands of lives over her thirty-four year tenure. She served her students as DECA faculty coordinator for many years. She furthered her education at Long Island University in New York earning a master's degree in 1986. Jannie's lasting impression on her students and colleagues, through her high morals and integrity, great work ethic and values, will last a lifetime.  Jannie was known for her style and keen shopping sense. She was truly a giver and great encourager of people. Her non-judgmental attitude of love and understanding endeared many to seek out her wisdom and advice. She embodied the Titus 2:3-5 and Proverbs 31 woman of faith.  Deacon Jannie Walker was a devoted member of Community Baptist Church of Englewood, New Jersey for over twelve years. She committed herself to ministry, lending her time, talents, and treasures to a number of ministries— Deacon Ministry, Educational Ministry, Deaconess Ministry, Mothers Board and Benevolence Ministry. As an inspirational leader and charismatic woman of God, she inspired all she came in contact with through prayer, song, and words and gifts of encouragement.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Rebecca Sellers and sister, Joyce Taylor. Mrs. Jannie S. Walker leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Reginald R. Walker; son, Stephen R. of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Desiree' M. of Wyckoff, NJ; sister, Frances Manley (Charles) of Newport News, VA; brothers, James Sellers of Detroit, MI, Orlando Sellers, Sr. of Upper Marlboro, MD, Clarence Sellers, Sr. (Norvice) of Orlando, FL, Ronnie Sellers (Jean) of Hampton, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
