Goldsboro-Jared Gail Birchum, 39, left us unexpectedly on Sunday, November 9, 2025, leaving a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. Born in Burke County, North Carolina on July 2, 1986, he was son to Jammy Birchum and Kim Benson Birchum.
Jared loved nothing more than spending time with his family. His smile could light up any room and brought joy to everyone around him. Jared will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the way he made everyone feel like family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A passionate Notre Dame fan, Jared's love for the team ran deep. If the game was on, nothing could come between him and his Fighting Irish. He also enjoyed spending his days on the golf course or out hunting with friends and family, where he found laughter, peace, and connection.
Jared was a faithful member of Bethel Church in Goldsboro, where he was deeply committed and actively involved in the life of the church community. His faith was an important part of who he was and guided him throughout his life.
Jared is survived by his loving wife, Kristy Steadman Birchum, his children, Emily Birchum and Elijah Birchum; his brothers, Jeremiah Birchum (Tiffany) and Jamison Birchum (Kaitlyn); his sister, Jessica Birchum (Maranda); and his mother, Kim Birchum.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jammy Birchum.
A service to honor Jared's life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Church with Pastor Steve Holder officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jared's honor to, Camp Vision, 439 Pikes Cemetery Road NW, Pikeville, NC 27863.
The family is in the care of Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
