Jared Mitchell Obituary

JARED PAUL MITCHELL

September 4, 1978 – October 12, 2025

Jared Paul Mitchell passed away on October 12, 2025, in Bakersfield at the age of 47. Born on September 4, 1978, in Ventura to Jay and Paula Mitchell, Jared moved to Bakersfield around the age of two – the place that would always be home.

A natural athlete, Jared loved all sports, especially football and baseball. He was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Braves. At Stockdale High School (Class of 1997), where he began his football journey, he played with determination and heart. He continued at California Lutheran University to play football; after a dynamic first game, a knee injury ended his playing career. Jared returned to Bakersfield College and later transferred to San Diego State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. During his years in San Diego, Jared made lifelong friends and carved out his own niche.

He returned to Bakersfield in 2003, where he established himself in real estate, serving clients with integrity for more than 20 years. In February 2004, life led him to Amy – his best friend and the love of his life – and together they built a family and a home filled with love and laughter. Their relationship was rooted in deep friendship, easy laughter, and unwavering support – an amazing partnership that made the ordinary feel special. A devoted husband and father, he delighted in everyday rituals: taking the boys to school and running the gauntlet of green lights, inventing and playing games at home, cheering from the sidelines, telling stories, and filling the house with music. He made life interesting for everyone around him and always carried a steady, positive outlook.

Jared will be remembered as a true friend and the glue that held everyone together – an excellent husband and father who lived with heart, laughter, and love.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Mitchell; his sons, Lucas (14), Gus (8), and Hollis (6); his parents, Jay and Paula Mitchell; and his brothers, Jake and Joe Mitchell – along with all the family and friends who love him.

Jared, I never imagined you would be gone so soon. You were always such a bright light in our family. I knew that when I saw you, you would give me a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek. You were the first to call me Aunt Debbie. You will be forever in my heart. I love you forever, Aunt Debbie
