It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jase Tucker Smith, a beloved son, brother, student, and friend, who left us tragically on September 20, 2025, at the tender age of 12. Born on May 28, 2013, Jase brought joy and light to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived in Grove Hill, where he was a cherished member of his community and an active participant in many local activities.
Jase was a bright and curious student who began his educational journey at Clarke Preparatory School, starting daycare at just 13 weeks old. He thrived in preschool and continued to grow academically through his middle school years, developing a fondness for math and demonstrating an aptitude for numbers. He was involved in sports, playing both baseball and football, where his competitive spirit shone brightly.
Outside of his studies, Jase held a passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing but was especially excited when he could drive or ride on any vehicle-whether it was a four-wheeler, truck, or even his family's lawnmower. His adventurous spirit was always coupled with a love for nature; he found joy in photographing sunsets and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Jase had a profound love for animals, particularly his dogs, who were his loyal companions.
Jase was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church, where he fostered friendships and shared in the experiences of his community.
He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Smith; father, Willie Smith; siblings, Rilee Smith and Payton Smith; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, who will cherish the memories of their son eternally.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Terry Smith; great grandparents, Doris & Melvin Clements, Leon Smith, Willie & Vera Myrle Gates, Johnnie "Floyd" & Minnie Z. Fuller, and James "Floyd" & Betty Turnbow; as well as his beloved dogs, Gus and Smokey.
A visitation will be held at Grove Hill Baptist Church on September 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where friends and family can gather to honor and remember Jase's vibrant spirit. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM, celebrating his life and the love he brought to those around him. Jase will be laid to rest at Good Hope Baptist Cemetery after the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Clarke Prep School, Jase Tucker Smith Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 609, Grove Hill, AL 36451.
Active Pallbearers will be Scottie Fuller, Sam Dungan, Ethan Dungan, Kenny Smith, Marty Smith, and Terry Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Clark Preparatory School Class of 2031.
As we say goodbye to Jase, let us hold onto the beautiful memories he created and the profound impact he had on our lives. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
