Jason Bolton Obituary

Jason Bolton
October 7, 1973 - July 26, 2023
Fresno, California - Jason was in a car accident on Wednesday, July 26th while traveling. He was airlifted to San Jose Regional Medical Center where he was determined to be brain dead on Saturday, July 29th. According to his wishes, the organ donor process began immediately. He was matched with recipients for his heart, liver, and kidneys, and donated his tissues. He gave no restrictions. He saved multiple lives with his organs and will help heal and improve the lives of as many as 75 others through his tissue donation. His pancreas cells will be used to heal sick babies. His bones will help people walk and run. Jason is a hero.
In life, Jason was a loving son to David and Diane Bolton, a devoted husband to Laura Bolton, a brother to Chris Sparks, and a caring father to Rowan and Willow Bolton. He studied music in school, particularly Latin jazz, and was proud to have been a member of the ska band Checkmate. Over the years he worked in various fields. One of his early jobs was working at the Ahwahnee Hotel where he learned the importance of tipping. He was a service adviser in the automotive business for many years where he cultivated his love for fancy cars. He was an EMS Dispatcher for American Ambulance where he saved lives daily. He received commendations for his outstanding professionalism and for successfully coordinating a tricky airlift for a critically ill patient. His last job was working at FlexToday where he administered employee benefits. In his years there, when attrition happened, he helped his oldest friends to fill those positions. They got jobs and he got companionship. Jason was passionate about playing video games. His online friends became in-person friends when he began doing customer service work on the side for the video game development team, Visionary Realms.
Jason's favorite pastime was listening to music. He loved every genre of music, including jazz, ska, punk, hip hop, rap, classical, industrial, alt-rock, classic rock, new wave, funk, pop, swing, indie, world, and even a little country. He filled as many days and evenings as he could attending live music shows, concerts, and festivals. He loved a good beer or a good bourbon. It filled him with joy to cook meals for family and friends, especially on his flat-top grill. Jason was the biggest University of Kentucky basketball fan and he loved rooting for the Dodgers. He was highly intelligent and had a great sense of humor. Jason was the most loving, friendly, kind, and generous person that anyone has ever met. He never met a stranger. He made friends all over the world and loved to travel.
Our family is overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity, and outpouring of love and support from everyone, especially the staff at Donor Network West and San Jose Regional Medical Center. To say that we will miss him is a gross understatement. We are at a loss for words to say more because there is just too much to say about this amazing human being.
Be like Jason. Be kind, help others, be generous, over tip and always tip housekeeping, take an interest in others, listen to good music, enjoy libations, eat good food, root for UK and the Dodgers, be loving, tell jokes, be a good friend, and register to be an organ donor.
A memorial service will be held on 8/19/23 at New Hope Community Church at 3pm.
Remembrances can be made in his honor to Donor Network West: https://www.donornetworkwest.org/get-involved/financial-contributions/

Derby Day 2023- you surprised us!
You took this selfie while we watched the derby together - your first in Kentucky. Another year without hearing your voice. You are missed but always in our thoughts. We love you, Mom & Dad

Our first Christmas without you. Even though distance separated us we would Skype and watch you and the girls open gifts. We are so thankful for all the surprise visits and you made especially on Derby Day 2023 for an early Mother's Day. We love you, son, and are thankful that because you chose to be an organ donor, three young men are celebrating Christmas with their families with healthier bodies. Love, Mom and Dad

Jason, I am so grateful that we were all able to meet for dinner in November. I remember thinking just how fantastic you were with my kids and so happy that my friend had such a wonderful partner in life. Thank you for leaving such kindness behind in the world. My heart is with your wife and daughters.

Jason was a kind soul and an amazing man. We count ourselves lucky to have been a part of his life. This tragedy has reminded us that life is too short and tomorrow is not promised. Follow your dreams, reach out to your loved ones. Don't take another day for granted. He will be missed.
