Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hile-Best Funeral Home on Sep. 29, 2025.
Hey guys, it's me, Jason Lester Cox, born at 3:42 in the morning on April 24, 1975. I passed from this life to a better place on Sunday morning, September 28, 2025. This was after 8 long years of battling with cancer. I am now pain free and spending time with my Grandparents Boonie and Ola Cox and my Grandma Doris and Joe Gallino, whom I dearly missed since their passing.
I was born into a loving family. I am survived by my parents David and Janet Cox, my sister Kristen (Troy) Thompson, and my sister Amy Brubaker. Left to cherish my memory are my three children, Jakob Lester Cox, Madison Ola Cox, and Emma Cox. Also, my Aunt Diane (John) Miller, my Aunt Dixie Agnew, my Aunt Candy Connor, and my uncle Rick (Dana) Dodd. I was preceded in death by my Uncles Jack Connor and Dallice Agnew.
Family gatherings were always an important part of my life. Cousins' Weekend down at the Allegheny River. July fourth celebration at Treasure Lake and Sunday lunches at the Rockland farm. At these gatherings my cousin Adam Miller and I were always getting into mischief but seldom getting caught. The other cousins would have surely told on us if they had known. You know who I mean: Kelly, Carrie, Kristen, Brandy, Sabrina, Jackson, Rachel and Amy. Of course, my Oil City Cousin Leslie and her mother, Isabel, were also regulars at Treasure Lake and holiday celebrations.
I graduated from Clarion Area High School in 1993 where I played football and wrestled. I was also in Clarion Singers where I was quite a dancer and a singer. After graduation, I attended Clarion University and joined the National Guard in Oil City. In 1998 I elected to go on active duty. I spent 6 years in military service, learning how to jump out of airplanes from 500 feet and I was also trained as a medic. I was deployed to Kosovo and to Afghanistan during this time. I made many lifelong friends during my time serving our country.
After the service, I worked mainly as an attendant in homes for mentally and emotionally challenged individuals. I worked for TTSR and Polk State Center. I was happiest when I was helping other people. I enjoyed taking long rides on my Gold Wing motorcycle. Thanks to you Paul and the other guys that rode with me, even when I had tubes coming out of my kidneys and collection bags in my pockets. Thanks Dad, Dewey Stewart, and Craig Schoeppner for our weekly breakfasts at The Log Cabin and thank you Ashley for being our waitress and putting up with us.
I would like to thank family and friends for making the short time I had on this earth more bearable. A special thanks to Chistina for caring for me in my final days and to the individuals from Venango VNA Hospice. God Bless you all.
Come join my family at the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in
Seneca, PA on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 am. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with my uncle, the Rev. Dr. John D. Miller officiating. A luncheon will be held at Hoss's Restaurant following the service. To express online condolences, visit www.hilebest.com
