In Loving Memory of Jason "Bax" Ralph Hatch
Jason "Bax" Ralph Hatch, 52, of
Monroe, New Hampshire, passed away on February 7, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He was born on December 11, 1973, in Berlin, Vermont.
Jason will be remembered for his big smile, gentle grin, unmistakable sense of humor, and the enormous heart he shared so freely with everyone around him. He was always down for an adventure and would give the shirt off of his back for anyone in need. His presence brought light into rooms and comfort into the lives of those who knew him.
A true outdoorsman, Jason loved sports, hunting, and fishing. He proudly played men's league basketball for the Furniture Barn and the Ryegate Flash. Among his favorite stories were the memories of reeling in a 7.5-pound brown trout while fishing with his uncle, harvesting a 22-pound turkey, and a 211-pound buck.
Jason graduated from Blue Mountain Union in 1991. He attended Rocky Mountain College in Montana from 1991 to 1992, and later returned to Vermont to attend Johnson State College from 1993 to 1994. In 1994, he began working alongside his father, Brent, at Hatch Manufacturing, where he learned to build trailers and developed his welding skills-craftsmanship that would carry into many chapters of his life.
In 2002, Jason moved to North Carolina to pursue a career in NASCAR, beginning with Brian Webber. In 2003, he joined the Bill Davis Racing team, and from 2004 to 2006 he worked with Chip Ganassi Racing alongside drivers Sterling Marlin and Juan Pablo Montoya. From 2007 to 2015, Jason was part of Stewart-Haas Racing, where he celebrated a championship victory in 2011. In 2016, he joined Hattori Racing Enterprises and celebrated another championship in 2018 with driver Brett Moffitt. During these years, he also professionally showed his Australian Shepherds, earning a national championship title with his beloved dogs, Olive and Jax.
In 2019, Jason stepped away from racing and briefly worked in steel building construction in Connecticut with Travis and John Haggett before returning closer to home in
Monroe, New Hampshire. There, he worked for Ahead Property Management, where his strong work ethic helped him advance into a management role.
Jason is survived by his loving mother, Sandra "Sam" (Frost) Hatch of
Monroe, NH; his aunt Vickie and uncle Hoyt Darby of East Ryegate, VT; his uncle Jack Frost of Victory, VT; and many cousins. He is also survived by his extended family: Greg and Barandee Page, Haley, Dillon, Amanda, Riley, and Owen. He was predeceased by his father Brent Ralph Hatch, in 2023. He leaves behind his longtime cat, Barley, numerous friends, and countless lives touched by his kindness.
Bax will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
In honor of Jason's deep love for animals, donations may be made to any local animal shelter.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jason "Bax" Hatch will be planned for a later date.
